Approach

My approach to therapy is collaborative and relational in style. I work to support clients in developing a deeper understanding of themselves grounded in their social context. Through our work together, clients often uncover habitual patterns of behavior that interfere with living the life they want, and over time many start to experience an increased sense of choice and flexibility in their actions. As my work with clients progresses, they often notice a greater sense of comfort with themselves, and an increased ability to cope with the inevitable challenges of life.

Throughout the therapeutic process, I place importance on understanding the many identities and experiences a client brings with them into the space, and acknowledging and examining together the role that social and cultural identities play in the therapeutic relationship and one’s larger lived experience. The theoretical and philosophical perspectives that inform my work include: psychodynamic theory and practice, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
